Our mission is to turn the Holland Tunnel Rotary into Rotary Park.

This is a rare opportunity to create a 4.5 acre public park from two blocks of underused space in the heart of Manhattan.

It’s a chance to transform this inaccessible space into a public square and make a unique place for performance, education, and relaxation for everyone — while preserving the operation of the Holland Tunnel Rotary.

A proper entrance to the greatest city in the world.

Rotary Park will be a new gate into New York City, creating a completely unique entrance experience for over 100,000 cars per day.

The site of Rotary Park has been many things over its complex history: a natural marsh, a farm, a contested frontier, an exclusive gated park, a train depot, and now the Holland Tunnel exit.

For the first time, we can make this space open to all.

An obstacle will be turned into a place of connectivity.

The Holland Tunnel Rotary is completely closed to pedestrians. Rotary Park will allow people to pass through, connecting the surrounding neighborhoods.

Rotary Park_Traffic

Traffic is a problem.

Rotary Park can be a catalyst for improving local traffic conditions and making the neighborhood friendlier and safer for bicyclists and pedestrians.
